How to elevate your Personal Brand in 2024.
Personal branding isn’t just a buzz word anymore, it’s a verified business strategy that not only can position you as the outright leader in your industry but can lead to monetisation and other opportunities you could only dream of.
If 2024 is the year of YOU, read on to find out how you can elevate your presence, increase your visibility and start becoming known as the go-to person for your ‘thing’.
1. Gain CLARITY.
Before you do anything, you need to have laser precision on just who you are and what you are all about. The marketplace is crowded – you need to know how to stand out from others and what your unique superpower is.
You also need to know and understand who your desired audience is, their pains and problems, and how you can solve them. Last of all, know, live and breathe your personal brand values as this will shape how you will be perceived by others – and perception is everything particularly when it comes to your personal brand.
2. Self PROMOTE.
Whilst it’s lovely that there are people that will refer potential clients your way, you can’t rely on others to continuously promote how fabulous and talented you are. It’s time to pull your socks up and promote the crap out of yourself.
I’d suggest:
- Telling 10 people about what you are doing and how they can help (ie. If you know of anyone needing help with ABC, please pass on my details!).
- Become an active participant in relevant communities – whether they are in real life (networking events), a hybrid (online and in person) or online such as the popular Facebook group Like Minded B’s Drinking Wine. Contribute where and when suitable and try to become known as the person to go to for advice on XYZ.
- Obtain media exposure via PR. This is the ultimate way to position yourself as the expert in the field and adds some serious weight to your credibility and status.
- Source suitable awards and nominate yourself for any relevant categories.
3. Be PERSISTENT….and CONSISTENT.
You don’t go from zero to hero overnight and in the personal brand world, consistency and persistence pays dividends. There will be times where you feel like you are not making any progress, but trust me, you are. The worst thing you could do is give it a half-arsed attempt and then simply give up. Trust the process, weather any doubts and keep on putting one foot in front of the other. This is not a sprint.
