What Is Personal Branding & What Can It Mean For My Business?

Let me ask you a question.

Do you know Gary Vee, Kim Kardashian & Mark Bouris?

Of course you do. All three of them are very prominent figures known for their influence and expert insight into varying topics. People follow them and turn to them for guidance on a certain something.

I’m a huge fan of Gary & Mark for different reasons, but when it comes to Kim K, I prefer studying her mother Kris as she’s the ultimate Momager and brilliant at Personal Branding!

Now let me ask you this question.

What are the names of their businesses?

Chances are this question has you stumped. All three have several businesses between them (VaynerMedia, Skims and Yellow Brick Road respectively as an example of each) but this highlights the difference between a personal brand and one that is attached to a business.

Unlike a brand that is attached to your product, service or workplace, your personal brand is attached to you! It’s the image, reputation and unique identity that you develop and present to the world at large.

By intentionally building and managing your personal brand, you can shape how others perceive you and create amazing opportunities for yourself AND your business. Personal branding is quite often an overlooked and underrated element of business. However, if done right, it can be an absolute game changer.

The Personal Branding process is threefold. It involves positioning you in a way that aligns with your goals (quite often this means positioning you as the go-to or leading authority in your industry, field or platform), building your reputation and credibility, and then facilitating opportunities that align with your mission.

At Topknot we have a proven PITCHES framework that we follow for our clients, and tap into our unique skills in PR, Marketing and Talent Management to help obtain results and make an impact.

From a business perspective, Personal Branding is fast becoming a popular business strategy. More and more business owners are noticing the positive benefits of focusing it. Not only will it lead to increased visibility, but it can also allow you to differentiate and stand out over competition, lead tothe development of new opportunities and new revenue streams, or at the very least, a stronger, more profitable business.

Any way you look at it, you can’t lose with a focus on Personal Branding.

My advice for you? Act now. Do something now. More and more business owners are awakening to its power – be one step ahead, not one of many playing catch up.
