The Personal Brand Client Journey – What stage Are You?
I recently mapped out my Personal Brand Client Journey and showcased to it to a group of people I was presenting to. The feedback received was great – people loved identifying what stage of their personal brand journey they were at, and what the next phase could look like.
There are 4 distinct stages when it comes to your personal brand journey in the ‘Topknot world’.
You’ll notice that all stages have different pain points and needs, but the good news is that with intentional effort and a bit of time, you can easily transition to the next level of your journey.
The Explorer
“What is personal branding?”
This stage is all about exploration. You’ve heard about personal branding but want to know more.
What is it, how can I build my personal brand, what can come of it etc. You are sourcing content and educating yourself on the topic.
The Inspired
“How do I do it?”
You know about the magic of Personal Branding and have decided to make a conscious effort to focus on it. You now want to know what you have to do to build your profile, be visible and position yourself as the go to expert. You don’t have the cashflow yet to engage an expert to do this on your behalf so opt to do as much of it yourself to propel you to the next level.
The Best Kept Secret
“I want more!”
In this stage you are known as ‘the best kept secret’ in your industry. Those who know, know. You have a steady rate of business and get a lot of your clients via referrals or word of mouth, but you want to be more visible. You want to expand your reach beyond your existing community and network. You may even want to become national and known as the ‘go-to’. You are craving new opportunities and business growth.
The Verified Go-to
“I need to remain relevant!”
You’ve made it. You are an established go-to – you are known as one of Australia’s leading experts in XYZ. But your pain points are now different. You need to remain relevant and current, so media, brands and individuals don’t forget about you. You also need effective management of partnerships, collaborations and enquiries from brands & events wanting to engage you. You need a sounding board for new initiatives, concepts – a trusted advisor.
So, what stage or phase are you at?
The majority of our monthly retainer clients are those who are in the 3 rd of 4 th stage of their journey – but we do cater for those in the 2 nd stage via our workshops and 1:1’s.
